In the past, generating explosion effects for live training relied upon pyrotechnic devices – real explosives complete with all the inherent dangers and safety restrictions. As a result, safety concerns often trumped effective training because traditional pyrotechnics were highly restrictive.

Combat Training Solutions solved this problem by developing a complete line of Full Effect Audio and Visual Non-Pyrotechnic Explosion Simulators. The concept is simple; air pressure, burst diaphragm and smoke simulation powder. When incorporated into a VISMOD device design, this combination produces a realistic and powerful audio and visual report.

The greatest benefit of this technology is the permissibility of Direct Contact Training (DCT). Trainees are afforded a direct, high-impact consequence for mistakes made during situational awareness exercises. Unlike pyrotechnic demonstrations that must be viewed from a distance, our devices deliver a hands-on experience that builds muscle-memory and improves reflexes.
